Eda Eminağa Baştuğ (Graphic Designer | Art Director - BFA, MS)
Eda Eminağa was born in 1980 in Nicosia, Cyprus and she has completed her secondary and high school education at Turk Maarif College, Nicosia. In 2001, Eda Eminağa was graduated from Bilkent University, with the first place from the Faculty of Art, Design and Architecture with a BFA degree in Graphic Design. Eda further persued her quest for more knowledge by acquiring Masters of Science in Advertising from University of Illinois, US in 2003.
During her university years, Eda became Creative Department Intern for Cenajans-Grey Advertising for a short period. When Eda finished her Masters in US, she was hired as Advertising Sales Intern for CNN-Headline News-Turner Broadcsting Inc.- in Chicago, USA. Following year, Eda took up the position of Media Planner at Kelly Scott & Madison Inc. in Chicago. At KSM, she has worked on ATA Airlines, Shoe Carnival, Illinois Lottery and Grund & Lewitt Law Firm accounts.
In 2004, when Eda retured home to Cyprus, she became an Instructor at the Cyprus International University in Nicosia. Eda dealt with various subjects like Advertising, Public Relations, International Advertising and Graphic Design.
At present, Eda and Verda are running their own company, ‘Cherry Red Advertising’. Eda mainly deals with all the clientele interactions, media planning projects and makes great contributions as an art director with valued inputs from the vast gained experience in the advertising industry. Eda has dealt with many well known clients from Evergreen Developments, British Council, Fab Ltd. (Peugeot) and The English School of Kyrenia to name a few.
Verda Eminağa (Graphic Designer | Project Co-ordinator - BFA)
Verda Eminağa was born in 1983 in Kyrenia, Cyprus. She has completed her secondary and high school at Turk Maarif College, Nicosia. In 2004 she graduated from graphic design department of Bilkent University with BFA degree.
While in university, Verda and the design team she was part of earned a number of awards for their works in the area of visual communication, including: 2nd Prize in 6th National IAA (International Advertising Association) Advertising Competition, and 1st prize in the national Visual Identity Design Competition for Nazım Hikmet. Verda was also the winner in the poster design competition related with Traffic Awareness.
Following her education, Verda completed her professional internship at McLaughlin Delvecchio & Casey Ad Agency (MD&C) in Connecticut, USA. At MD&C, she has worked on Odyssey Re-Insurance, Mystic Seaport Museum and Valley United Way accounts. In 2004 when she turned back to Cyprus, Verda joined Kyrenia Post Magazine in Cyprus as a graphic designer.
After more than a year, Verda and her sister Eda decided to start their own advertising agency
‘Cherry Red’. Verda is now the co-owner and the project co-ordinator of Cherry Red Advertising. In 2007 Verda was awarded the first prize at the logo design contest of the TRNC’s Ministry of Labour and Social Security. In 2009, Verda’s unique logo design has received an honorable mention for Turkish Cypriot Woman’s Interdependence Council’s Logo Contest.
At Cherry Red, she has been dealing with social responsibility campaigns of the Municipality of Kyrenia as well as Fab Ltd (Linens, Eternity), Malpas Hotel and Erülkü Supermarket.
Neri Ertuğrul (Graphic Designer - BFA)
Having studied in the medical school for 2 years, she realized that the clinical eye is closely related to the artistic eye, and decided to pursue a career in visual communications.
Neri excelled in illustration and caricature drawings and designer various illustrations for children’s books, games and stamp designs. Neri has earned her BFA degree from Hacettepe University, department of graphic design, in the third place in her department, in 2007.
She has completed her first internship, as a graphic designer at Machado, Drük & Salz (MD&S) in Essen, Germany. MD&S she mainly excelled in Christmas card designs. Following her first internship, she has worked at Argos Advertising in Ankara, Turkey where she mostly worked on corporate identity designs.
Cherry Red, discovered Neri’s great talent in illustration and she has been working at Cherry Red both as a graphic designer and an illustrator. At Cherry Red she has been working on the following accounts; Zone Restaurant, Pizza Town, Urban Developers, North Shore Estates, Colourland Prep School, Cribs Interiors and Fab Ltd. (Peugeot).
Gürkan Gökaşan (Graphic Designer, BA)
Gürkan was born in 1985 in Nicosia and has completed hi high school education at Bulent Ecevit Anatolian Lycee.
In 2008, he has earned his BA degree from Eastern Mediterranean University’s department of Public Relations and Advertising, Faculty of Communications. He has started his career in the field of mass-communications as a radio programmer at Akdeniz TV & Radio. During his university education Gürkan, has worked at Oriza Advertising as a part-time graphic designer. In 2009, he started to work at Yenidüzen Newspaper as a page layout designer. Since then, he has been the cover designer for Yenidüzen Nesapaper’s weekly Art & Culture issue.
Gürkan’s passion in graphic design has lead him to continue his education in the field of visual communications. Since 2008, he has been doing his master of art degree at the graphic design department of Near East University. In 2008, he was employed as a graphic designer for a social responsibility project named as ‘Volunteering, Social Responsibility & Diversity’ implemented by UNDP & The Management Center. In 2009, his logo design was awarded the 2nd prize for Natura 2000 Project which is funded by European Union Coordination Center.
He has joined to Cherry Red design team in 2009 and he has been working on various key accounts such as Cyprus Internatinal University, Turkish Bank, Cyprus Turkish Chamber of Commerce and Industry, ASM-Ahmet Sedat Mağazaları (Braun, Fissler, Fakir).
